Another Turn Tack and Apparel Has Something for Everyone

One of the many wonderful things about Working Equitation is it is available to everyone, all breeds, and all disciplines.  Similarly, Another Turn Tack and Apparel has something for everyone who has a horse, and even for those who just admire them.

NOVAWE Business Member Another Turn Tack and Apparel, known as “The Shop,” has been supporting NOVAWE from its inception, providing NOVAWE support and show sponsorship.  The Shop’s owners Karen McCarthy and Adair Soho participate in different disciplines themselves, McCarthy in Hunt Seat and Soho in Western, and both bring diverse expert knowledge to their craft, benefiting their customers.  Another Turn Tack and Apparel is a natural supporter of Working Equitation (WE), as both The Shop and WE cater to all disciplines and breeds and all horsemen and women.

When Soho was introduced to Working Equitation in 2017, she fell instantly in love with the sport and has embraced learning and exceling in it.  She and her gorgeous American Quarter Horse Cromeless Mercedes (“Skye”) are regular fixtures at NOVAWE clinics and schooling shows and has also competed successfully in rated WE shows. “I love Working Equitation, love the folks, and love the challenge of the dressage pattern and the obstacles courses. My horse loves it to; she finds it interesting and fun,” Soho said.

Another Turn Tack and Apparel provides show prizes and supports NOVAWE at all its events. NOVAWE members receive a ten percent discount on merchandise (except for consumables and saddles). The Shop also serves as a drop off/pick up location for NOVAWE’s Logo Wear orders and a member meeting site.

The Shop’s friendly and helpful staff work happily to serve a diverse clientele, from riders who participate in rated dressage shows, hunter/jumper circuits, foxhunters, reiners, western pleasure, pleasure and trail riders, natural horsemanship enthusiasts and Working Equitation, to those just starting out on their first lesson pony.  McCarthy explained “Loudoun County and surrounding counties have a lot of horses and a lot of horse people.  It is a big horse community but a small world, meaning the horse community is well connected; I love how just about everyone knows of everyone through one way or another,” McCarthy said. “We are happy to be part of that network, helping to provide for the needs of our customers and their horses, and to help our customers connect with organizations that can further support their horse goals, as different as they may be.”

The Shop assists big barns with their clientele’s needs, as well as individuals with their horses at their own small farms, providing everything from water troughs and buckets to hay nets and horse wormer. “There are a lot of lesson barns and a lot of people just starting out with horses; we can help them get geared up without breaking the bank,” explained McCarthy.  I love helping folks start out and see them grow and advance in their chosen discipline.”

Soho added, “We love the kids, we love supporting their schooling shows, their summer camps, the pony clubs and 4-H groups.”  Soho added enthusiastically, “We love the older kids too,” meaning adults. The Shop supports Tri-State Riding Club and NOVAWE—and sponsors dressage rider Holly Wilmoth.  “We love giving back to our customers,” exclaimed Soho.
